A walk in the park....

As most of you on my spam list (aren't u grateful u are on it?? ) know of my penchant for walks in the park this summer.. and of my iphone fetish of taking pics and sharing songs I am listening to, I thought of penning a few lines on the sights and sounds that greet me at the Spring Creek Park, nestled in a valley that houses the little town of Springville Utah , which has been home for over the last 7 years..

Be it at 5.45 am or 8.45 pm.. a walk in the park is never boring, not if you have the kinda friends I do...

Mornings are quieter and my golfer friend has been missing in action ( those of you who read my previous post probably recall where he went ;) but this is the politically correct version so no mention of him or his b..... tee hee , .. don't really miss him tho, coz I love having the park to myself..

The one thing that catches my eye every morning is the little robin who sits with the worm in its beak ( she or he must be the early bird) but invariably drops it as I come huffing and puffing down the path.. makes you wonder the early bird does indeed get the worm, only if it is also a brave bird, who knows when to fly.. this little robin is of a slightly squeamish disposition I imagine... nevertheless the little bird is my friend though I really think the worm likes me more, coz each time I walk past.. it gets to wriggle back into the hole it got pulled out of... guess your unknown benefactor can come in all shapes and sizes eh?

Then there is my ever steady ( not to be confused with 'slow' ) Snail Family.. they have been making the rounds ( ahem.. actually it is a foot long walk) for the last week or so.. if you walk with your eyes heavenward, chances are u are reducing their population size considerably but then someone like me whose shoelaces keep coming undone for no apparent reason, I have noticed that most of them have made it safely across the foot and half wide walk path in the last 2 weeks... hey.. it is not always about speed.. it is also about having tenacity to take on Reeboks and Nike's as they appear with unbridled enthusiasm and weight !!! when u are least expecting..

My evening walks are more fun because of the whole National Geographic Animal Kingdom fiasco happening in front of my eyes.. there is this black cat which thinks it is a leopard.. ( technically they are from the same family I guess).. and so it pretends to stalk a bird or a mouse and ends up scaring a little butterfly off a dandelion.. what a dumb cat I say.. but if that was dumb consider the various little pups that show up of different shapes and sizes. I have come to the honest conclusion that the bark of a dog is inversely proportional to its size.. it blew me away yesterday when this pint sized little kitty cat tried to snarl and spit at a Husky.. I mean this dang Alaskan Husky was taken aback for a few fleeting seconds as this cat took out all its teeth and totally showed its feline colors ( of the BIG CAT variety).. the dog after getting its composure back growled a few times and then walked away with its dignity intact.. I think that cat is no longer my friend any more.. :(

Other than the animals there are also interesting things to watch among the humans in the park.. there are mere mortals like us who have the white Apple ear phones hanging out of our heads like normal appendages, scurrying down the park in various rates of the "target heart rate" .. some of these people are definitely in the "zone" as they glide thru like gazelles while the rest of us trudge along making sure we have a ready and effortlless smile for the next person who catches our eye though we maybe totally out of breath.. life is all about keeping up appearences what say? I mean why else would I wear my Davidoff Coolwater when what I really want to do is sweat off some calories... aah!! the gullible impressionable minds of humans !!!!

The guileless among us are truly the children.. they really don't care if their fingers get stuck in a sprinkler head as they play in the last rays of sunshine that turn into little golden droplets as the water management system in the park kicks in.. yesterday there was this foot and a half tall girl in a wet t-shirt who honestly could have put a new definition to cuteness.. she was shivering in her wet outfit but had this impish grin that would beat the expression of any Cosmo model showing more skin maybe, but nowhere as much class !!!.. All good things do come in small packages methinks !! ...

So there you have it... yet another glimpse into my funny little world .. As my iphone shuffles from one song to another, I sometimes wonder.. this is probably what it is all about.. the beauty of the sunsets and moonrises, the perpetual battle for survival, the ever changing faces of the sky... this vast universe where we scurry along in our zones playing our parts.. makes me smile..

Signing off for now.. and wishing each of you a beautiful walk in the park.. stated differently.. wishing you a beautiful life...
